Introduction
Our lady of Assumption hospital was officially opened on 16th November 2019.It is the only mission hospital in Nkanu west and Nkanu East local government area. It is a hospital that is owned and managed by University Sisters of Assumption.
Location
The hospital is located at Akpugo, in Nkanu west local government area of Enugu State. It is a poor rural area that is mostly populated by peasant farmers.

Capacity
For now it is a six beded hospital. We take care of both in and out patients. We are presently in a rented building, we hope to expand in future to enable us increase our capacity. Our patients do not come from Akpugo alone, they also come from Agbani, Ugbawka, Nara, Akpavfwu, Amagunze ,Ihuokpala and Onicha Agụ. All these towns are at Nkanu west and East.

Activities
The hospital takes care of many activities such Antenatal care, OPD, counselling, surgery, Delivery, Laboratory investigation and so on.
Departments
For smooth running of the hospital, we have various departments namely pharmacy, OPD, Theatre, Laboratory, maternity and so on.

Laboratory department
When the hospital started newly, we had a part time laboratory scientist that visit few days in a week. We usually collect samples and inform him when we have. He comes and does the investigation and go. A times we collaborate with another nearby standard lab. Presently we have a laboratory scientist. She takes care of the laboratory investigation of us in and outpatients

Pharmacy
When we started in 2019, we had no pharmacy, over the year the hospital constructed the pharmacy. We operate central pharmacy in which case all drugs are kept in the pharmacy. From there, drugs are given to the various sections including in and out patients. We buy drugs in bulk from the market. The drugs are stored in cool environment.
Our patients are kept in a well-ventilated area. We practice TRIAG. We have consulting room separate from the OPD, to enable patients to be free to express themselves.
Mobilization
We carry outreach in various town as well as free medical care when we have a sponsor for it. Some of the towns that we have gone for mobilization include Ndiagu,Onicha Agụ ,Amagunze, Ihuokpala, Akpawvfu, Nara, Ugbawka and Agbani.Patients are gradually coming from these areas. We hope to increase it to other towns in future

Funding
We do not have external funders. We depend solely on what we generated in the hospital to pay the salary of the workers, maintain the hospital and develop the hospital.
